What’s Next for NYC?
New York City’s school accountability system has been in place for almost a decade. As the Department of Education continues to translate the promise of this system into practice, it is important to hold public conversations that examine what has been learned throughout the evolution of accountability. On November 19th the DOE will articulate its insights, share lessons, and explore what’s next. A panel of experts will respond.
Shael Polakow-Suransky: Chief Academic Officer & Senior Deputy Chancellor, NYC Department of Education
Warren Simmons: Assistant Professor of Urban Education Policy & Director of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform, Brown University
Michael J. Petrilli: Executive Vice President, Thomas B. Fordham Institute
James Liebman: Simon H. Rifkind Professor of Law at Columbia Law School & Director, Center for Public Research and Leadership
David Steiner: Founding Director, CUNY Institute for Education Policy & Klara and Larry Silverstein Dean, Hunter College School of Education
