RESCHEDULED: NYCpublic.org’s Parents’ Charrette
RESCHEDULED DUE TO HURRICANE SANDY
NYCpublic.org‘s Parents’ Charrette: What might REAL “parent engagement” look like in NYC’s public schools?
Why a Parents’ Charrette?
In a little over a year, we New Yorkers will be electing our next mayor. Who better than actual public school parents to suggest some directions for this new era?
What Can I Expect from the Parents’ Charrette?
• CEC1 president Lisa Donlan, TCU professor Fran Huckaby, & Advocates for Children Executive Director Kim Sweet on parent participation in education decision making
• A facilitated, engaging process that encourages active listening, participation, & collaboration
• An opportunity to present ideas generated in charrette groups to reps from the mayoral campaigns (To date, confirmed participation from the offices of de Blasio, Liu, Quinn, Stringer.)
A simple lunch will be provided, and we are exploring limited childcare options. Check back with us as we get closer to the date.
