From the article on parent invovlement:"Speaking to parent coordinators and other parent leaders " ".....included a total of 15 parents, principals, parent coordinators, and representatives from local nonprofits."Does anyone see a pattern here? I would seem from these snippets that the common denominator is "parent coordinator" not parentParents have multiple levels of involvement: at home, in their local community and across the city. We all need to recognize these levels. We can no longer relegate parent participation or involvement to one path.
"He signaled that family engagement standards had in fact been created, but he did not mention last year’s promise to assess schools based on how well they involve parents. "
Aw, c'mon! If the standards have been created, why are they secret? That's just plain silly. If the standards exist, put 'em out to the public. Put on your big boy pants!
And, not for nuthin', how can anyone who was involved in the last mess that was called a CEC election really believe that the DOE isablre to "do the right thing" now.
