MULGREW AND HIS CRONIES BETTER NOT ACCEPT ANY CONTRACT OR AGREEMENT ON EVALUATIONS THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE STOPPING THE CLOSING OF SCHOOLS. WAKE UP UNION MEMBERS. IT EFFECTS US ALL!!!!

Mulgrew, as with everything else, will march to the beat imposed by Randi who is after bigger and better things, especially if Obama wins again and Arne Duncan’s position becomes available.

You can bet that Bloomberg/Walcott will do their absolute best to try and force an agreement that will allow them to gut the NYC teaching force before they are sent packing next year. Hopefully, Mulgrew will grow a backbone and tell them, the ignorant press, and Cuomo to go climb a tree until a rerasonable set of terms is developed. This Danielson framework is being used as a loaded gun by administrators and it’s not even officially in place yet.
The fact is that the majority of NYC administrators lack the subject specific backgrounds to do useful objective evaluations. With the additional budgetary pressures created by Bloomberg/Walcott this year they are highly motivated to target the highest salaried teachers in their schools to help free up money.

Unfortunately, as absurd as it is, I don’t think so, but I would value and appreciate someone more knowledgable on the subject brought up by you to answer. It is alarming to me that our Union can make such agreements without the vote of the rank and file. And no – having a committee of teachers of some sorts who the Union says represents all its classroom members in this decision does not cut it. Utterly confusing and maddening,

Question: Once an evaluation “deal” is reached between Mulgrew and the DOE will the rank and file UFT members get to vote on it? The magnitude of importance surrounding this deal can not be understated as each and every NYC teacher will be effected by it for the rest of his or her career.

The APPR is the worst piece of legislation to come out of Albany in decades. It will do immeasurable damage to public education in NY. It will be catastrophic for NYC.
