Boosting scores? Seven tenths of a percent? Boosted? Shimmed is more like.

Well now I guess our students are experts at talking to pineapples……the “incvreases” of curse are statistically insignificant.  As far as the charter schools are concerned, just ask what happens to a kid who acts out at a charter school as opposed to a kid who acts out at a regular school.

But then again, we must never let the facts get in the way of good propaganda, eh Mr. Mayor.

  • Pogue

Will the U.S. House also label teens who play flight video games as highly qualified pilots?

  • I noticed that…

If Shael Suransky is a true African American because he was borne in African, as per Bloomberg’s demographic comment, then what is Walcott and all the Blacks borne in America?  Didn’t Bloomberg violate one of the Chancellor’s Regulations regarding race?  The man has no scruples and he’s one tackless a$$hole.

  • Ken Hirsh

GS is really pushing this “gaffe”.  I guess the release of the annual test scores is not interesting and/or important enough.

What do you think of Bloomberg’s comment that charters are better able to “tailor a product” for the students? (education as a product)

You know, all alone I’d dismiss it, but EVERYTHING he says is either political self-aggrandizement or politically self-destructive. And even that I could forgive if his policies and ideologies weren’t as abysmal as his attempts at humor. As always, no disrespect to the original vision and version of the charter.

  • Ken Hirsh

I get his point (although I hadn’t read the quote so I’m only basing it your comment), but I understand that his choice of words often annoys many people (to say the very least!).

Here’s the quote from the NY Post:

Charters “are better able to tailor the product that they need to their customers,” Mayor Bloomberg said.

Awful. Education as a product, students as customers, after over ten years of focus on education. Pathetic.

Can you imagine if a teacher said what Bloomberg said to their class? How fast would they be up on charges. We need to recall this insensitive egomaniac.
