“Spike Lee, said he got a great education at John Dewey High School.” Yep, I read that too. Of course he did! It was and is, and always will be a great school. Was it greater before? Yes. It was consistently ranked as one of the top schools throughout the city. Now? Not so much. But don’t blame the school, blame the lack of leadership, nearby school closings bringing in academically deficient kids, and the corruption plotted to exploit the resources of this school and created a downfall. It would be great to see Mr. Lee defend his alma mater more. Maybe it would change things for the best.
