Where is the mention of the Mayor’s proclamation that he wants to fire half of the NYC teachers and double class size. Is this website on his payroll?

Re: Jane Addams & the recent spate of “notorious” Principals:  there’s always more to the story, much more.  As an advocate for “failing” schools and someone who’s been inside most of the buildings of “ill repute” I read these half written articles (credit NY Times for doing a better job than most papers) and scratch my head.

If corrupt grading practices (and other crimes) have been going on for years why now are these investigations taking place?  Are the schools some of the last, “one school/one building?”  Are they large comprehensive High Schools that are underfunded/starved (which yesterday data released by the NY Times confirmed)?  Are they Career Technical Education schools the Mayor/DOE has openly acknowledged they’ve mis-managed?  Why doesn’t a High School like Jane Addams have a Chemistry teacher?

Gaming the system is unforgivable, but I’m sure it’s been done in the past and will be continued as long as the system continues work for everyone but the students.

  • Michael M. (parent still)

I can’t help but think one layer of the onion, more outer, and another more earlier*…

Gaming the system at an even more profound level is exactly what the Bloomberg team did to cook the school grades for ALL the schools, by which they justified a third term.

98% of schools got A’s or B’s in an election year.  Ninety eight.

Of course, there was no similar spoken wish by Bloomberg to get to the bottom of that one.

    * Pardon the syntax.  Public school edumacation.

    Yes, it is…..

Ms. Cramer just added a separate piece on this topic.  So we should expect Gotham Schools to shut down soon, after Bloomberg removes it from his payroll.

Wishing Ditmas JHS all the luck to win!
