Anonymous,

Precisely.

Noguera says one thing and does another, and is a faux critic of ed deform, writing meaningless criticisms of the DOE while in practice enabling the hostile takeover of the public schools. He should be called on his actions, or lack thereof, rather than having his empty criticism of the DOE give him the unearned reputation as an independent figure. He seems to be in the Obama mold: throwing out some occasional progressive rhetoric as a distraction and diversion from the interests he is truly serving.

The Bloombergs, Gates' and Broads of the world know how easily and cheaply academics can be domesticated and led by the nose.

I was at the Forum and I found Mr. Noguera's approach surprising. Mr. Noguera took responsibility for his vote to approve a charter, but then tried to step away from taking responsibility for the problems that occur afterwards. He ducked all responsibility for the disaster caused by colocations on the technicality that the DoE is the one responsible for displacing public school children in favor of charters. Even though Noguera himself has full knowledge of the practice employed by the DoE with every charter approval Noguera himself is responsible for. Mr. Noguera attempted to project blame on the DoE for a practice that he plays an integral part in.

Professor Noguera is a member of the SUNY Charter School Institute, thus it seems more than a little disingenuous for him to be calling for more scrutiny of charter admission policies. Is he suggesting that he and his colleagues are not performing their jobs?
