Unbelievable. We have been in pergatory for the last two years, not knowing what will happen with our school, our students, our jobs. We have been told many times a decision waas coming and yet there we sat in limbo. And now we know... almost nothing. Bloomberg's arrogance combined with his incompetence has led us down this hellish path. He needs to tax himself, his rich friends, the banks and corporations and STOP CUTTING MUCH NEEDED PUBLIC SERVICES. Cut to seniors? Education? Childcare? Firehouses?Really? He needs to step off.

I love it I tell ya!!! More confusion in this chaotic nightmare!!! More madness, more ridiculous "models." Bloomberg should be on the cover of every paper as the posterboy for RUINING an entire educational system!!! You can't even begin to make this stuff up. This is a total disgrace and unjust to the children of our city who are getting shafted. Again, no one seems to REALLY CARE. Is anyone stepping up? Dump Bloomberg but before that, dump Obama!!! He is making some very, very POOR moves within the educational field.

(sorry, I hit send by accident!)...

That the city is insisting on going this route is a classic example of Ed reformers refusing to work with the organization that represents and protects 75,000 teachers who work for it --and they should be ashamed for it because it's putting the students of those schools at higher risk.

Kudos to Michael Mulgrew et. al for sticking to their guns and forcing the city either work out the differences in good faith or not work them out at all.

I think it's important to state that this is what happens when a school system fails to work with its teachers' union.
The city wanted to use this brand new and completely untested way of evaluating teachers as a tool to dismiss many of them atr just one year of transition to this whole new approach. The union, to its credit, insisted on another year before the city could dismiss the teachers based on poor evaluations under this new system. Thee negotiations broke down over this issue.
And now the city is going to go another route

What exactly will this mean for these schools? Will it be easier to be fired? Will we have to work a longer school day? Anyone have any examples of this model elsewhere?
