Re Item 4, the Juan Gonzalez article exposing the DIRTY DANCING between Klein and Steiner:
The truth was worse than we thought.
Previously, here on GS, a DOE flack was quoted as saying the class size reduction funds were NOT earmarked even for their nominal purpose, and a number of commenters said that was blatantly untrue — the money was per the Campaign for Fiscal Equity lawsuit, per the resulting Contracts for Excellence, and indeed earmarked for class size reduction.
This AFTER Steiner’s predecessor was ON RECORD criticizing the DOE for taking money, even for schools were both metrics — class size and student-teacher ratio — went UP.
So now we know. Contemptible. All puns intended.

Fed Up With DOE
I think the DOE just gave schools their share of the edujobs money which was supposed to save jobs. Now Bloomberg calls for a 2.7 percent cut. He wants the money back. What one hand gives the other takes away. Obama should have put some strings attached to that money. For a while Bloomberg was saying that the edujob money was already taken into account in the city’s budget. How can he say that when it didn’t even look like anyone was going to get that money. Bloomberg probably wants to use that money just to save cops and pay for their overtime. Yes we do need to save the jobs of the police because crime had gone up in the city, but we don’t get the true numbers when it comes to crime. The DOE keeps creating new positions such as mentor principal and now the talent coaches. I thought there was a hiring freeze, but that doesn’t stop Bloomberg along with his puppet from creating jobs for principals that should be in the rubber room just like teachers when a school is closed. The new talent coaches are probably the principals that lost their positions from the 11 schools that are under the federal program to improve schools. The only good thing that came out of this was that the teachers didn’t lose their jobs. Besides a 2.7 percent cut Bloomberg also claims that layoffs are possible, but not right now.
