Gotham Schools, what about the letter from the civil rights organizations protesting Obama’s education policies? Seems like big news — will it get any coverage beyond the ed blogs?

I just received a letter from Human Resources in NY asking teachers to apply for”master teachers” positions in the NY BOE. Things are about to get very interesting in New York.

I think the mayor’s job hinged more on the 100 million dollar campaign, the reversal of term limits, and the utter failure of his buds in the press to report how little support he had.

"Deputy Schools Chancellor Shael Polakow-Suransky rejected any criticism of the way the city has used the tests for the last three years." Theres someone with an open mind! I reject any criticism! I have no flaws! My work is perfect! Most of the educational community laughs at the scores given out on the progress reports.

Raising test scores????????????? What a bright idea, raise the require score for passing before you implement the new National Core Standards, implement or refine curriculum, and improve instruction in the classroom.

No wonder our best and brightest run this educational structure in our glorious state of New York.

I guess if the raise the standard for passing more students will pass. The next step after that will be to work on teaching and learning. Any suggestions?
