I saw your story on the news the other night,Karina. Good for you! Keep up the good work! I wonder if you might share some of your enthusiasm with a young woman in Nicaragua. You can check the pihom.com web site. It is an organization that my husband (who is a physician) started.
The young woman has started medical school in Puerto Cabezas,Nicaragua. She has had a hard life but perseveres like you have. I am sure that you are busy but a story like yours does not come on the news every day. God Bless you and the Best of Luck to you.

I am a 23 vet teacher, was an ATR for a year and can’t stand the system, charters, the union etc. but can we just celebrate a great story like this one without the crap. Congrats and God Bless

Hi Leonie — no, as Marina said, we weren’t paid by New Visions or anyone else to do these stories. They pitched the students’ stories to us and we thought they were interesting and worth sharing.

As to your second question — yes, I think that students at New Visions schools are the only ones eligible, but Marina, perhaps you can confirm that?

As a New Visions Employee, I can tell you that GS was not paid by us to do the story… they were happy to do it on their own. Karina is a smart and determined young lady that is more than worthy of this scholarship. Congratulations Karina… we are all so proud of you!

These are lovely stories, but one question in the interests of transparency: is GS getting paid by New Visions or an intermediary to publish these stories? sorry if I seem suspicious….

Also who is eligible to receive these scholarships? do you have to attend a New Visions school?
