Is anyone who reads this site surprised to see Rupert Murdoch giving the E4E a platform to spread its Fifth Columnist propaganda?

I find the linkage of “rubber rooms” to “seniority” particularly distasteful.

The “next frontier” should be test mania.
    No wait, funding shortages.
    No wait, lack of space.
No wait, record number and percent of graduates needing remedial classes even at the CUNY junior college level.
No wait, bogus planning and forecasting by Tweed.
No wait, a true policy-level analysis by the PEP of the “Close ‘em don’t fix ‘em” strategy that Chicago already ditched.

No wait, a Chancellor who should have been replaced long ago.

Then again, according to some, putting the senior teachers on an ice floe cures all.

    No wait, there’s global warming

An ever-growing and largely undisputed body of research indicates that the single most important factor impacting student achievement is teacher quality. In fact, according to widely cited studies by the Dallas Independent School District, having a “highly effective” teacher for three straight years can essentially close the achievement gap between disadvantaged children and their more affluent peers.

So if you say this enough, does it make it true?
