The reason there is a two for one is to prevent retiring or otherwise leaving the system teachers from scamming the system since you can only be paid for CAR days not taken at 2 for 1. Now perhaps they should start changing that formula since it is manifestly unfair.

I knew you could donate, but had no idea that is worked this way. It doesn’t seem fair, but I can see how the DoE benefits financially. It seems ridiculous that if someone has over 200 days in the bank, it can’t be donated. Those extra days are not even covered in the retirement package which btw only gives back 50%. I wish your colleague well and think your staff is marvelous to do this. Hopefully he gets the days he needs to cover his recovery process.
