What??? This is the first I hear of this Queens MS teacher!? Have I not been paying attention to the news (I think I have) or has this not been given the exposure it deserves. I mean, not post media coverage but a real discussion on the fact that this is becoming a common occurrence. 14 year old kid what a damn pervert lady.
I hate this.

Re Item 3, STD Testing in DC:
“The program conducted last year at eight high schools found that 13 percent of about 3,000 students tested positive for an STD, mostly gonorrhea or chlamydia, according to the D.C. Department of Health.”
Eek. Then again, that’s hundreds of children about to get the medical attention they need. Makes me wonder if the program should not be extended to middle school.

NYC DOE’s age-appropriate HIV/AIDS Curriculum. Worth a read.
“In 2005, 48% of all New York City public high school students surveyed reported ever having sex.”
…and…
“30% of sexually active New York City public high school students did not use a condom the last time they had sex, putting
themselves and/or their partners at increased risk for HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections, and/or unwanted pregnancy.”
So, in any class of 30 NYC high school kids, odds are that at least FOUR of them are having unprotected sex. (I should say MORE than four of 30, given the question was limited to “last time.”) http://schools.nyc.gov/NR/rdonlyres/2306E9D3-CE17-4ED2-9D73-CD88BF929D6E/8719/HIVbrochure_English.pdf
