"...this basic but, for the Senate, extraordinarily difficult accomplishment..."

Does this represent this web site's editorial slant? or did the phrase came from someone else's press release? Please clarify.

These amendments are absolute stupidity, clearly reflective of our august state senators. Our school ALREADY has a school safety meeting where the annual school safety plan is discussed with parents and presented by the SLT and the principal. Stupid! Stupid! This is what happens when elected officials feel a need to look "important." And an advisory council on the arts! Oooh! That's going to do a lot. Let me write the groups conclusion. Spend more money on the arts in schools. Oh wait, there is no more money . . . . .

SED has just funded more centers for parents of students with special needs. There are local organizations, such as AQE or ACORN, that organize communities around education issues. There are PTAs, yes PTAs, that still function and there is the Office of Parent Engagement and Advocacy at the DOE. There are over a million students in NYC which gives us a base of over two million parents. There is no one organization that will be satisfactory to train all of the parents in NYC. And, just in case no one has noticed, the funding for over two million parents is 1.6 million dollars. $ 600,000.00 of that is already earmarked for one effort. That leaves us with one million dollars, or .50 cents per parent. Out of that will come the salary for a person, probably with a PhD. in a related social science, support staff and the training materials. How does this benefit parents?
