Like the title suggests, this is a must read for everyone who works with the DOE, as well as parents and policy makers. Everything I have thought or felt on the status of teaching has been addressed in this book. I agree with every point; the truth is being told and our representatives need to listen.

Hurray to Leonie et al. for getting this published! I'm watching from the other side of the country, but this is important to all of us. We've all seen the same thing going on for years now: The "miracle" school reform that emphasizes privatization, charters and teacher-bashing; the barrage of dubious and juked stats and flat-out lies; the press accepting them unquestioned and parroting them; leaders and officials across the political spectrum buying the magical thinking and promoting it. How long will this production keep being repeated before it finally becomes apparent to all that it's not based on a true story?

Uh-oh, this is a book that will surely upset Mayor Bloomberg, Chancellor Klein, and their new head cheerleader, Randi Weingarten.
