Good great going Bill. We desperately need more rights and of course, those are the first steps. What is critical is the implementation. There is a static atmosphere at the DOE. Here's an example. I ran for CEC council in district 10 and was flabbergasted at the fact that of the 9 seats available only 7 of us showed up for our pitch to the parents and council. What happened? 2 people who weren't even present were elected. This is just endemnic of the disease that has spread throughout the education system: parents who are actively involved in their children's education, those trying to initiate change pro-active and constructive change are road blocked every step of the way. I sit on the Principal's Liason Committee at PS 81 and believe me, it feels like lip service when hardly any of the recommendations are implemented. The whole purpose of the group is to represent parents' concerns and to begin programs of change.
