		<description>Regarding the Maisel bil that would increase community superintendents&#039; power, this is a big deal because it would give districts a degree of autonomy -- and local legislators a renewed degree of influence -- that they haven&#039;t had since 2002.  This is much more important than the PEP in terms of gutting Mayoral Control.
Thanks to the Daily News -- and Gotham Schools! -- for catching an extremely important piece of legislation which, since it helps both the Legislature and the unions (parents, not so much), stands a good chance of passing.  - David C. Bloomfield</description>
