The fact is that no one represents the parents, and Mr. Klein doesn't even do his job, which is representing the kids. The sole reason for his longevity is that he serves as another mouthpiece for Mayor Bloomberg. I've heard Mr. Klein on NPR condemning state budget cuts as unacceptable, but defending city cuts as just one of those things in the course of the same interview. You can't have it both ways, and you can't stand up for kids without sometimes biting the hand that fails to feed them. NYC kids need a real chancellor and to get one they're going to have to change the no-checks or balances absolute rule that is NYC mayoral control.
