If you’re frustrated with the slow pace and finicky search requirements of the new city payroll database, you probably wish there existed a single Excel file with the salary information for all central Department of Education employees. Now one does.
Happy sorting and leave a comment telling us what you discover!
Even more shocking than the excessive pay of the top is how many administrators there are on the payroll; more than 11,000! this is far more than we could have ever guessed before.

I assume you extracted that information from the Civil List the city publishes every year? Does anybody know why teachers and principals are not listed? Are they not on city’s payroll? The only person from my child’s school that is on that list is the parent coordinator.
I just looked up the salary of the parent coordinator and she’s way underpaid at 41,000. She takes all of the complaints of the parents, and there are always tons, and has to try to work with every one of the parents in a constructive manner. Pay the parents coordinators more!!
My favorite lines are the hourly rates at $484 and $483. Is that for real? I want their jobs. You could bill a single hour and make more than a teacher does in a week.
Never mind. I just went to the online database and indeed everybody is in there. The spreadsheet only lists admin staff. My child’s teacher’s salary is ridiculous. Pay our teachers more!
