89% voting to keep their schools in the bonus program doesn’t indicate that teacher are happy with the first year of the program. All it means is that it is the lesser of 2 evils. I can take the 3,000 or I can vote to not participate and have another school take the money. Me voting out of the program does not do anything except take 3000 away from me.

We never had the opportunity to vote for investing the 3000 per teacher into the classrooms.

This is the first time I’ve heard of these incentives. Are they mainly for innercity school districts? What about the low performing rural public schools?

BK, you can have it your way, but I don’t see the suburbs doing any of these carrot and stick tricks. Teachers and students who care will work hard, nonetheless. That’s the way it ought to be.

Good things happen when someone sets a clear direction, as the mayor has done, and gives motivation to succeed.

We don’t need no stinking bonuses! Provide the support to give schools a safe, quiet, productive, exciting, disciplined, and non-overcrowding environment…and students will flourish. Enough of the gimmicks! Jeez!
