Too often, our middle-schoolers are asked to use figurative language in meaningless, forced ways. Rarely have I come across as authentic an example of personification as a considerate garbage can eating an unwanted mess of coleslaw. The ability for students to write about their real lives, through voices and visions they actually believe in, is the advantage blogging has over so many other forms of classroom writing.
